Along with two floors and a mansard, an inner courtyard and gardens, the Palacete das Cozinhas possesses some medieval remains such as the cistern - which are thought to have formed part of the original Palace's outbuildings.

Its 14 rooms transmit memories that go through 8 centuries of history, inviting the discovery of ancient times. Perhaps because it was built in the castle area, far from the zone that was preferred by the nobility after the earthquake, the mansion combined elements of the rationalist Pombal style of building - the sober frames around the windows and the main gateway - with others that expressed a greater freedom, such as the elaborate design that surmounts the wall attached to the gateway in the main facade on which we can read 1765 - the probable date of its construction.

The Palacete das Cozinhas remained in the hands of various aristocratic families for many years, during which it gradually suffered the averages of time, reaching the modern era in a very run-down state. The mansion, which is classified as an Historic Building has now been transformed into a hotel under the name Solar Do Castelo Inn and has been brought back to life by a high quality, contemporary design by the architect Vasco Massapina.

Thanks to its new vocation, once again we all have access to the hospitable tiled figure that welcomes us at the entrance and invites us to get to know the house, the authenticity of which is based on the history and memories of a mythical site that was the birthplace of the City of Lisbon. All bookings from Brazil must be prepaid no later than 96 hours prior to arrival. Failure to prepay by this deadline will result in the booking being cancelled.

The Solar Do Castelo, from the Heritage Lisbon Hotels, has just received the certification for an Eco-Hotel given by TUV Rheinland Portugal, the first in Lisbon, in recognition for the good environmental practices adopted. At Solar Do Castelo the water consumption was minimized through a structured plan. The guests security, one of the crucial reasons for this certification, was subject of recognition as the hotel has adopted measures of self-protection with the back-up of the National Authority for Civil Protection.

In this unit, certain replacements were implemented, like the use of energy-saving lamps, as well as an integrated system of air-conditioning and water heating. The ecological concern, in conjunction with a growing awareness of social responsibility, has been a constant concern of the Heritage Lisbon Hotels. Concerns such as the environmental impact caused by structures, energy consumption, natural habitat integration, as well as other social and economic factors, are more and more significant in the management of the hotels..
