The Doubletree Metropolitan Hotel New York City is full of character and history as it was originally designed by Morris Lapidus the modernist architect of Art Deco fame.

His iconoclastic style is seen in both the interior building /which reflects a contemporary version of the Lapidus design-a 1960*s look with eclectic touches a retro-cool feel and design accents/ as well as the exterior blue facade - which is shaped like a perpendicular rolling wave. This hotel is also where Marilyn Monroe made history. In 1955 while filming *Seven-Year Itch* Marilyn was posed in front of the hotel when a gust of air from the subway vents blew the skirt of her white halter dress skyward - and made history.
